Our kids ministry
Serves birth through 4th grade and is available all three services, 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 am.
Nursery (birth up to 24 months)
The nursery staff gives our littlest ones the utmost love and care in a safe and nurturing environment. Parents can enjoy uninterrupted worship with confidence, knowing that their children are happy and content. We believe even a young toddler can learn these truths:
1) God loves me.
2) The Bible is God’s Word.
3) I can sing and pray to God.
We maintain a high adult to child ratio, so children can have the most attention and interaction possible.
Preschool (2-5 years old)
Our preschool staff creates early building blocks of a strong, gospel-centered foundation for our children. Your preschooler will enjoy a fun-filled time of high energy songs and motions and learn God’s Word through creative storytellers and media. To prepare preschoolers for elementary, we focus on three foundational truths:
1) God made me.
2) God loves me.
3) Jesus wants to be my forever friend.
Elementary (kindergarten - 4th grade)
Elementary continues to build a strong, gospel-centered foundation for children. We teach the nature and character of God and how children can know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him. Before heading to middle school, we want children to know three truths:
1) I can trust God no matter what.
2) I need to make wise choices.
3) I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
We partner with parents in the discipleship of their children by creating exciting environments with resources that center on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Kids worship God through a high-energy student-led worship experience and interactive, creative and kid-relevant Bible teaching. Kids also make relational connections in small groups by grade and gender. A caring leader facilitates to reinforce the day’s lesson and prays with the children.
The Sherman Bible Generational Ministry Team focuses on the gospel lived out through the Think Orange philosophy. The church, represented by the color yellow, is called to illuminate and bring the light of the gospel to a world that desperately needs it. The family, represented by the color red, is the lifeblood, the love and support that a family is designed to give. When the two colors of yellow and red merge, they form the more vibrant color, orange. We desire to merge the influences of family and church to create a greater influence in the lives of our children because combining two forces has greater impact than just two separate parts. This is why Sherman Bible is a Think Orange church!
We believe nothing is more important than a person’s relationship with God- not what job they have some day, what college they attend or any athletic or educational accolade. A passion for Jesus Christ and a life transformed by Him is the ultimate goal. No one has more spiritual influence in a child’s life than parents as God has placed that leadership on them; we as the church have no desire to replace the parent in their God-given role. Parents are the primary spiritual influence in their child’s life, whether they want to be or not, and they will teach through their own walk with God. For this reason, we partner with parents and families. We realize that no one has more potential to spiritually influence parents than the church, and parents’ influence greatly increases when the church partners with them. Parents need another voice reiterating the spiritual truths they are teaching at home. Parents also need the support of the church to walk through life alongside of their family- to rejoice with them when things are good and to stand alongside of them when life is tough. We also realize that the influence of the church greatly increases when parents partner with the church. The message of the gospel taught at church will take greater root in the lives of children when they see it modeled in the home. With synchronized efforts between church and home who have the same end in mind, we can expect the gospel to transform our children’s lives for a lifetime.
